Seriously... I don't understand why the hell Vince isn't on a team after two weekends of regular season play. For me, the NFL really does stand for No Fun League. I mean, really... What. The. Fuck.

love that picture. even though I am a big Ajax fan, as opposed to Feyenoord.
Just looking at Schaub flaking out as usual, I cannot help but think how Vince's career could have been different if he had been drafted #1 by the Texans instead of the Titans. Too painful to consider.
He better get a good shot by some team or else we are going to copy that young fan's moves very aggressively

Ha! yeah, it is a pretty funny pic.
"I cannot help but think how Vince's career could have been different if he had been drafted #1 by the Texans instead of the Titans. Too painful to consider."
Very painful indeed. I remember being furious (and I'm not even a Texans fan- just that he could have played for his hometown) when Houston didn't pick him. Hell, I'm still pissed. Weren't they high on Carr at the time? Jesus.

and reading this "St. Louis was not competitive in three of their losses. The offense has remained sub-ordinary despite adding talent and scheme continuity for Sam Bradford. Jeff Fisher's defense has been a massive disappointment." (in an article about 5 teams to stick a fork in)
we still keep hearing that FGFish is such an amazing coach, Vince is a nut job, and we find ourselves on an island, hoping for Vince's return to the limelight. holys smoly. aaron, audrey, JAF, we need to start some positive spin in the league or else do what the boy in aaron's picture did.

i couldn't watch the MNF game live, but from tracking the stats it looked like S Wallace did nothing and is going to get sacked and INTed a ton if he has to go for a fw games.
VY time?

saw the highlights. wow. seneca wallace is scary bad. here is to hoping that vince gets another shot with the packers. and that he can use it to showcase his real capabilities when working with the #1 offense, instead of trying to play with #2s and #3s....

if vince does not get a call in the next 2 weeks, then i think he is officially written off by the league. the packers are in ridiculous territory in their back up QB situation, plenty of others are in deep doodoo on the QB position as well. if he cannot get picked up in this market, he has no chance left. let's hope we see him play for a team soon. the sundays that i woke up eagerly anticipating a VY game are too long gone. let's hope VY gets a chance to restore the glory!

I agree with you Joan. It REALLY does seem like forever since I looked forward to watching NFL football (ie, Vince playing). So depressing. Here is a link to a recent story that I'm betting everyone reading my post has already seen, but here it is: click here for the linka quote from Vince: “Me and my wife and all my peers and fans, we’re all trying to figure this stuff out,” Young told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Sirius XM NFL radio. “I don’t have the slightest idea. It’s like a huge question mark over my head every day I wake up in the morning to take care of my responsibilities and know I should be playing.
“To not have one of those calls, man, it’s tough.”

the hardest to tke for me is that all this talk about backups, replacements, etc. and vince's name only comes up as a punching bag for haters. and of course, the folks at the houston chronicle always manage to print stories about his money/legal problems just when there are possibilities for vince. like last week. after not writing about it for months.
anyway, slowly getting back to where I was before vince was picked up by the packers for a little while: numb and wanting to stop watching football

Numb. Very numb here too. With an undercurrent of loathing for the NFL.
But I can't imagine what it must feel like to be a professional athlete that can't get a job anywhere (in the major league), despite being in near top form.
There must be a sort of creeping despair, time running out of viable prime body-conditioning and the supreme frustrations that come with being overlooked/ black-listed (etc, etc).
I just can't imagine it. I'm sure my frustrations as a fan barely hold a candle to Vince's (and friends, family).
I remember telling my girlfriend (who is also a fan of Vince), after Vince just won the championship against USC, that if he didn't win a Super Bowl within 7 or 8 years, it was going to be the fault of the whomever will be Vince's head coach. I told her that coaches in the NFL were notorious for their ego(s).
I wish that my words at the time weren't so prophetic.
So much potential... squandered by Fisher, unwilling to change/adapt his system. And then sullying his name to the rest of the NFL, effectively black-listing him. The contempt that I hold for that man knows no bounds.

ok guys. and audrey ;-)
I need to see a sign that Vince is at least in talks with a team about working out or straight out replacing their QB before Thanksgiving, or I am following the example of that little boy from Feyenoord in aaron's picture: go nFl yourself is what I will say to those teams not calling him, even though he could win games for them.

ok. on that note, read this:
"Scoring woes: The Chiefs scored their first second-half offensive touchdown in four games on Sunday, but that happened within the last five minutes, with the Broncos holding a comfortable lead and willing to allow a long, time-consuming drive. Kansas City's second-quarter offensive touchdown was its first in seven quarters. This is a problem the Chiefs will have to learn to live with. They've struggled to score touchdowns all season when the defense and special teams are chipping in with scores of their own. The Chiefs scored just two touchdowns on four trips inside the Denver 20. One time the Chiefs had to settle for a field goal after having a first down at the Denver 2. Another time the Chiefs came away with no points at all after losing a fumble.
Big deficit: The Chiefs don't make many big plays on offense, and it wasn't certain how they would respond to falling behind by double digits because before Sunday night, they had never faced that situation this season. Predictably, it didn't go well. Quarterback Alex Smith completed fewer than half of his pass attempts, and in the second half the Chiefs had just one completion of more than 21 yards. "
Andy, Vince has time available on some upcoming Sunday afternoons...

So it has been 2 whole months since I began this thread, with no positive word on Vince.
So, yeah.
FUCK YOU NFL.

aaron, audrey, everybody else: 2 more days and then I am going to officially 'retire' from believing Vince will make it back into the NFL. I will wait to see what happens in the Thanksgiving games, but I think Vince is not going to get any calls from anyone anymore. The fact that so many QBs have gone down and Vince has not even gotten a workout is beyond frustrating. Fucking moronic. Happy Turkey day to all. I am expecting to stick a fork in it (Vince's return) unless some QB goes down on Thursday that leads to a call for Vince. Shockingly sad. So much potential. All wasted because of f*cking Field Goal Fish. And Vince not being able to control himself in that final game. If he had not done that, it would at least have taken the sting out of FGF's attack. Here is to Vince getting one more shot somewhere somehow, but we are officially out here on a limb now.
Hang in there everyone. And thanks for maintaining the forum JAF.

Well Green Bay certainly made a mistake in not picking up Vince...They may not make the playoffs! Kansas City could have used him also...The Raiders what the hell? Anyway Vince needs to quit waiting on the NFL...Go to Canada and light it up...Make a few teams beg for his services....Remember QB's hit their full stride in their 30's gang...Vince needs to make things happen or himself and not wait on the NFL....He could end up back as a Titan....Several people are saying they want him back...Munchack will probably be fired after this season...

well, turkey day came and went without a hitch. so, i think this season is officially over for vince. and i agree with you audrey, it is time for vince to face the reality that just sitting on the sidelines, ready to jump in when necessary, is not going to be his route back into the NFL. maybe he should try his luck in Canada for a while. if he keeps sitting by the phone, waiting for the NFL to make the first move, his career is done. so, he needs to make a move.
I will check in around playoff time just to see if you have all had some creative ideas, but I am going to move on from the NFL for a while, just like Vince should. thanks for making this a fun forum to check out and chat with all of you on over the years. bye.

Aaron, I just saw that the cowboys had 5-7 QBs come in to backup Romo/Orton: not Vince. Game over. Insanity. Bye bye to the NFL. And Vince better be open to playing in Canada.

It is painful to think "what could have been" if Vince had been picked up by Pete Carroll's team two years ago.
