Thigpen’s decision to take less money makes the Bills’ decision to keep him around more understandable. When the Bills traded for Tarvaris Jackson, it appeared that Jackson would be the primary backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick, and that both Young and Thigpen would be on the way out, and that Brad Smith, who’s listed as a quarterback but plays mostly receiver and special teams, would function as the third-string quarterback. Instead, Thigpen remains along with Fitzpatrick, Jackson and Smith, as the Bills decided Young was the only quarterback they didn’t want.

Greg • 2 days 18 hrs agoReport Abuse I love how the media is so harsh with this guy. Proper journalism would have analyzed all the Bills qbs and found out that Young was outperforming the backup they did keep. A backup mind you that has been in Gailey's system for 3 years and still throws pick sixes in almost every game he's played. And let's mention how the starter Fitz was horrific in preseason completing less than 50% of his passes. This anti-Young bias is getting tiresome. What happened to doing a proper analysis and writing about it instead of having an obnoxious opinion of someone and then tailoring the story around that opinion? His minor off field incidents warrants this backlash? Where's Rapelisberger's backlash? Two rape charges against him and it's never mentioned ever! Journalism is dead and gone. It's only alive to settle scores with players you dislike.
