i understand what he is saying. When I lived in Austin (months only) and I saw him play, I had that same feeling. Let's not get our hopes up. But if he did land there, it would be amazing. I think it would be a great environment for him.
And if I were him, I would just sign a 2 year contract, even if it is as a backup. The problem with 1 year contracts is that nobody believes you are here for the team; you are obviously here to look good and move on as soon as you can. So, nobody has any loyalty to you.
And for VY, being in such a good learning environment and knowing that you won't have to look for another club come the end of the season would allow him to concentrate on becoming the best QB that he can be.
Let's not hope, but secretly pray nevertheless, that something positive like Greenbay may come out of this...

It would be great. I belive if VY can be Rodgers backup for one or two years, he will be great when back starting for someone. With that said, 6 years ago everyone wanted VY. VY is not a great prospect coming out of college and no one will threat him like that, having all the patience in the world to wait him be constantly good. It's the problem. VY needs consistency, and i am starting to undesrtand Fisher's point. Not agree with him, since he needed to develop Vince. But he couldn't trust VY and always tried to keep him under 20 throwns a game to minimize INTs.

Here what I got from the article VY is not a back-up he a starter who need a package for his style of playing since being in the NFL Fisher was not best coach for VY. Maybe Chan could have been the coach but too much money was put on Fitz and they stuck with a system that does play to VY strength.

fernando, look at his TD:INT ratio before the 2008 benching and after: you wil see it is night and day (I think he threw 10 TDs to 3 INTs in 2010). It was his one big change after being benched: he threw the passes in places where they were either harmless incompletes or catches.
When he became a backup, I think he got into a mode of trying to do too much in limited time. It is almost like you give someone time to show off, but you don't tell him when his time is up. You get frantic overly up-or-down play, instead of a gradual moving the chains approach. He needs to slow down and play like the starter when he is in, not like he is the backup who need to show his next team what he can do with 2-3 homeruns in every game. That kills him.
Which is only one more reason to stop taking these 1 year contracts. If he is not so frantic, he may play a ton better too.

From the packers board:
"Quarterback (2): Rodgers, Harrell
Although I don’t believe Graham Harrell is a No. 2 quarterback in the NFL right now, I think it’s more likely than not that the Packers will keep the position as is–with Harrell as Rodgers’s top backup. If a late-round pick could pry Colt McCoy away from the Cleveland Browns, Thompson would likely consider making that move. And despite Vince Young being an convenient punch-line for football fans, who would you rather have if you had to win a game without Rodgers: Young or Harrell? I’d take Young, and it’s not even remotely close. It’s highly unlikely that Thompson would bring in Young as a free agent, but then again, Ted hasn’t been typical “Ted” this offseason."
as one of my colleagues would say: pretty please!!!
