I am telling you, Gailey did not really want VY. Nix probably forced him to 'upgrade the position' and Gailey is hoping that Thigpen can hold on somehow, or else that he can secure a good landing spot for Thigpen to be traded to.
I will answer the poll about fair chance in a bit, but I think that, if you ask anyone what performance they would expect from the 2nd stringers of the Buffalo Bills (take VY out of the equation) against the 1st team of the Steelers and I am sure you all know what to expect. So, yes, Gailey set up a perfect and 100% secure dagger in the back of VY with that move. Just look how the 2nd team D did against Leftwich. Oh wait, they did nothing while he carved them up like cupcakes.
At the same time, he made dumb mistakes that were preventable and entirely his own choice. He should have played it way more safe and then he would have still had his job now. Sometimes you need to know when to hold back. Vince just plays to win all the time and that can backfire, as we now see.
A job well done by Gailey on working VY out the door without letting anyone criticize him (hey Tyler, howyadoin') and a job made easy by Vince when he was not smart about the Steelers game. If he had just made it an uneventful evening, it would have been much harder to push for a trade and he would have preserved his own trading value.
Now he has to try and find a new place from a point of weakness. Stupid choices. Bad consequences.
And for the record, the Bilss are so going nowhere this year. And Gailey will be fired at the end of the year dn rebuilding will really start in 2013 for that organization. Sad, sad, sad Vince. Get smarter or this game is gone for you. Performance can only be delivered if you are given the chance to be on the field long enough. And this is not going to work. Let's see if a QB gets injured and Vince can get his last shot. We are close to the end I am afraid. I don't know if he is going to recover from this.
