I agree that he did not. See this headline:
"Chan doesn’t rule out carrying 4 QBs"
from today. It is looking more and more that Chan thought VY could be used as an 'argument' why Thigpen was so good (and why he was right even though the whole league thinks he is wrong to believe so much in Thigpen). So, once the bad performance against the Steelers was in the book, it was perfect to pull the trigger on Vince.
Is Vince to blame for his own demise: yes, he played very dumb if his objective had been to keep his job. If he had played the game and ended with unexciting plain vanilla numbers (=copy Fitz' stats), everybody would be asking what the hell Gailey would be doing if he had tried to trade for Jackson. Now, it was a shot for open goal.
Did Chan set him up for failure by letting the 2s and 3s (who he said have been below Chan's expectation levels all pre-season) go up against the 1st team of the Steelers: you betcha.
I read something about Vince being frustrated with his receivers and not standing with the other QBs. I did not see the game. So, I don't know anything about that.
Anyway, I think Vince would have maybe been better off not doing this stint with the Bills. But he also looks like a guy who is very unhappy when is not part of a team. Sigh. NOthing left but to see what happens next. AZ could be an option?

Hi ya'll. I'm here to commiserate with you guys. I feel very depressed for Vince. (I'm still hopeful, but my hope is fading very fast- that he will ever again be a full time starter in the league). I wish him the best. That said, I really didn't want him to be in Buffalo to begin with... didn't seem like a good fit and quite frankly the Bills have always sucked (sorry Fernando).
As others have said, keep the faith. (really fucking hard to right now though). And yes, i still harbor hate for Fisher.
And thanks Just for the Espn clip with Skip.

"Young might well be done in the NFL. Remember, he went more than six weeks in the spring without fielding much, if any, interest before the Bills worked him out in early May. At that time, we asked NFL talent guru Greg Cosell for his assessment. He foresaw precisely what transpired: He was unlikely to succeed in Buffalo. "(Young) is limited in the kind of offence he can run," Cosell said. "He needs to run an offence whose foundation is the run, so you give him the play-action pass game... "If you put him in the shotgun, he's not very good at seeing things before the snap, which is a very, very critical part of playing quarterback in today's NFL -- particularly if you're in the shotgun in a spread, because it's always up to the quarterback in the spread to figure out who potentially is blitzing." The Bills, of course, utilize a shotgun spread most of the time. "So what happens is he becomes an improvisational, random player," Cosell said. "And because he's got a lot of physical ability, every once in a while he'll make some spectacular plays." Such as the bomb to T.J. Graham in Minnesota two weeks ago. Two things twisted Young's learning curve in Buffalo. One, Gailey's passing offence, which is complicated and apparently hard to digest after two years, let alone after just four months. Two, Young told me in July that QBs coach David Lee was tinkering with his mechanics. Too much, too soon. Now he's done. Too soon. Again." from: slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/NFL/2012/08/27/20146066.htmlI don't know why people keep saying that he is limited in what he can do. He seemed to pick up the offense well in Philly. Had he not shot his mouth off (dream team) and signed a 2 year contract, things may have looked very differently for his career now. one other snippet of info: On if QB Vince Young had the offense down: He had it down. I think he had it down with his thought processes but you have to be consistent with all of that, too. That is where we just did not see the consistency and obviously Tyler (Thigpen) had not jumped up there yet either consistently. So we are going to try to see if we can find somebody that will give us consistency.

This offense was not a good fit for vince. In my opinion its not a good offense period. I have faith in the football gods, and that vince will end up somewhere. I can't believe I'm saying this but if he could land somewhere and just practice and not play and truly learn an offense i believe we may all get to see him play again at a high level.

21h Skip Bayless þ@RealSkipBayless No surprise arch-conservative Bills cut VYoung. I still believe he can win games as a starting QB, his way. Just hope somebody else believes
21h Skip Bayless þ@RealSkipBayless Mack Brown once told me Vince Young is the greatest leader Mack has ever been around, and he's been around a long time
21h Skip Bayless þ@RealSkipBayless Vince Young played greatest national title game ever. Offensive RofYr. 31-19 as starter. Sensational at NYGiants last yr. CAN PLAY!

A great post I think it's a Buffalo thing. Chan could be gone after this year, if they don't win. Fitzpatrick has never done anything and many B-lo fans don't believe in him. But the organization has gone all in on the guy. He hasn't put together a decent scoring drive in the preseason. Despite his big brain I think he's mentally weak and has self confidence issues that were exacerbated when VY came aboard. All they have at QB is question marks.
VY is a lightening rod even when he's trying to be a quiet soldier, which I think he was. After the Minnesota game half the fan base started chanting VY for starter. While VY's mistakes against Pitt were pretty bad, I'm pretty sure that VY was cut partially due to Fitzy's fragile state. The guy is a hot house flower who can't quite believe himself that he's a starting QB in the NFL.
Why was VY cut from Philly? it is really pretty simple. The locker room isn't big enough for Vick and VY. It isn't either guy's fault or based on their conduct.
