man, I hope that Vince gets some chances to play with the 1s; the WRs seem to be crap once you get past their #1&2 WR (and I have a sneaking suspicion that the Bill's #1@2 are only slightly better than average at best):
''It wasn't a little case, it was a huge case of the drops,'' Gailey said. ''The quarterbacks, they would never say it but I'll say it for them: 'That's unacceptable. We can't have that.' If we drop the ball that much, we won't win any games.'' The session Saturday didn't go much better. Jones, who's being counted on to fill the No. 2 spot opposite Johnson, bobbled a quick out to the right, and was stopped in the backfield. A few plays later, Jones failed to turn around on a route over the middle and had Ryan Fitzpatrick's pass bounce off the back of his helmet. Graham, a rookie third-round draft pick, has taken a step back after getting off to a solid start in camp

He's the 3rd quarterback because he's still learning the offense. He'll be fine.

i do not agree. VY never had receivers like those he have in Buffalo. Stevie is amazing. David Nelson is a big reliable target with sure hands. Donald Jones a good slot option. TE Scott Chandler is big and sure handed too. Great on red zone. Fred and CJ Spiller are great pass catching RBs. That's the first team. I know VY will not play with thos guys now, but the good news is we have a battle for the nuber 2 job. Donald Jones is the incumbent, but all the others can take his job with a good preseason. They are unproven, but good young receivers. Rookie 3rd rounder TJ Graham is a deep threat who is impressing in this training camps. Marcus Easley is a phisycal speciman who had health problems last 2 years, but can be the guy too. Derek Hagan impressed in his games last year. Kamar Aiken is very young but showed potential last year too. Naaman Roosvelt catches everithing throwed his way. David Clowney is the newcomer. I know after Stevie no one is great, but all those players are good enough to help VY to win a battle against |Thigpen.

Listen the only way VY stay a Buffalo Bills if Fritz and Thigpen are bad this Thursday because Chan has not given VY a chance putting him 3rd QB with the leftover. He gone out of his way to support Thigpen, damn VY got some bad karma with these coaches who want other QB.

calm down Just a fan, this job is VY to loose. Thigpen is Chan's guy, but even Chan known that VY is way better, even than Fitz. In preseason VY will separate himself.

day 10
Among Young’s better throws was a 20-yard strike to Kamar Aiken over the middle. He also found Scott Chandler in the front left corner of the end zone for a touchdown.

reports are saying VY is looking improved from last week, more confortable and throwing well on the run. Let's see how he does today on day 11. This will be the last practice before thursday game.

Day 11, from Chris Brown of buffalobills.com:
"Vince Young was also sharp during practice and recorded back to back touchdown passes during red zone work. His first touchdown pass was to Fendi Onobun over the middle from about 20 yards out. That was followed up with a touch pass to David Clowney on a fade route in the back of the end zone."
Reports are saying Thigpen is improving too, but the good news is thursday preseason starts and we will see how the QBs looks when they're not wearing those red jerseys. I'm confident VY can outperform those 2 other guys.

Here my question who is VY o-line will he get protection ? The first team O-Line is looking good for the season. They're not amazing but a good line. Left to right: Glenn/Hairston-Levitre-Wood-Urbick-Pears. Glenn is battling against a solid 2nd year player in Hairston. Levitre is one of the best gurds in the league. Wood is a top center too, but has problems to stay healthy. Urbick was a nice surprise last year and Pears is a rock solid RT. 2nd team line has some talent but is not reliable. Thursday i think they will be Zebrie Sanders-Jasper-Colin Brown-Chad Reinhart- Sam Young. Asking your question, i don't think VY will be able to sit in the pocket with the second or third o-line. The good news is VY will can show how he can buy time and make plays happens. Thigpen will not be able to do that. Also, Gailey offense has a lot of quick passes to get the ball out of the hands of the QB very fast.

I am not sold this is a fair playing field for VY. Chan has gone to the press saying VY was struggling with learning his offense but not saying Thigpen is struggling. He gave Thigpen extra time with the second team. Then made Thigpen 2ND QB. Yes VY better than Thigpen but that in fair playing field hell VY better than Fitz. Chan has protected Thigpen and Fitz not so for VY. Now I really believe Nix wants VY cause he wants to win. How does this play out?

Yesterday in the buffalobills.com recap videi Chan said the backup QB battle was starting to shape up and after that Chis Brown said VY had his best practice as a Bill. Thanks God preseason will start and VY will can prove on the field again who is the best guy.

i do agree that it is time for games to start. I spent some time in Houston when they just started and I recall David Carr always looking spectacular in practices (according to the local press) .... before being slapped around like a little poodle. OK. I can't resist: just watch this video from the 2:45 minute mark. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFqYhFa7mWANow think Thigpen / Fitz/ etc. Anyway, the main point being that the QBs will start to separate once the real games start. I just hope that VY gets his fair chance and makes the QB2 spot. If he does, he will thrive. If he doesn't, it will be because Gailey never wanted VY, he just wanted to prove that Thigpen is his guy for good reason and stacked the deck against VY. Here is to hoping VY gets the nod in the end

I will say that, when you read articles like this (yes, ignorant on VY, again, but decently accurate overall), it does make you think if Vince is not better off stepping in as QB on another, more competitive team when their QB goes down during the season: fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/08/08/buffalo-bills-2012-n-f-l-season-preview/It just seems that the Bills are an even more mediocre bunch than the Titans were when Vince started there. Optimism in Bills' land is high because they only compare themselves against performance of the year before, but if you put it in league-wide context, it gets a little shakier. And no, I don't believe that Super Mario is Super for a full season of impact. He will get an injury and not play more than 10 games this year, marke my words...

No Joan, this team is not worst than those Titans VY led earlier in his career. He will have two great RBs behind him, a very good nuber 1 receiver in Stevie Johnson, who always can get open and some rock solid options in David Nelson and Scott Chandler. With Fitz playing well this offense was explosive last year. When Fitz started to play poorly, the season was lost because the Bills had no pass rush last year. With an improved defense, and with VY playing well under center this team can easily be a playoff team and SB contender. I think it's time to VY impose himself and takeover all his oportunities. I'm his fan because i belive he can be a Elite QB in this league, like he said before. But an elite QB for sure is able to separate himself from guys like Thigpen in preseason. I dont care if he's throwing to guys who maybe will be cut. He will be playing against guys who are in the same situation. If Brady, Brees or Rodgers were in VY's place i'm sure they would be able to play better than Thigpen and at least chalange Fitz. It's what i'm expecting VY to do. It does not matter if Chan want Thigpen or not. VY will have 4 preseason games to play better than him. It's up to him to show on the field who's the better guy.

Listen if VY was playing all position on the field I would feel good . You talking abouts guys who have not play in the league who can miss route that can make VY look bad. There a reason Chan put VY with the 3rd team and not Thigpen.

He will put the 2 with the second team and third team. Both will have opportunities. I belive will have a fair shot and it's on him to show the world they're wrong about him. I belive in VY, but he needs to step up. Thigpen cant be competition to him, and Chan is not Jeff Fisher. He likes Fitz, but if Fitz struggles, he will love to have a talent like VY to step in his place. Remenber, Chan prefered Fitz injured and struggling than Thigpens last year. If he like Thigpen that much, he would played him. This guy named Trent Edwards his starter 2 years ago and released him in the 3rd week. The best man will win.
