GREEN BAY–Vince Young sparked a listless Packers offense by leading it to a game-tying touchdown late in the third quarter of a preseason game that was tied, 10-10, after three quarters.
Seattle played its starting units into the third quarter, and Packers rookie cornerback Micah Hyde made a sensational play to knock away a deep pass intended for Golden Tate, but the dam broke on a second-and-18 play inside 10 minutes to play in the third quarter. Rookie Seattle running back Christine Michael burst through a gaping hole in the Packers defensive line and outran everyone to the end zone for a 43-yard touchdown run that gave the Seahawks a 10-3 lead.
Green Bay followed the Seattle score by replacing Harrell at quarterback with Young. Johnathan Franklin also replaced fellow rookie Eddie Lacy at running back. Lacy had a rough night, having rushed for minus five yards on eight carries.
Young immediately scrambled for 21 yards, which triggered a Packers touchdown drive that covered 80 yards in 11 plays and culminated in a Young touchdown pass to Jonathan Amosa. Young completed four of five passes for 25 yards, and ran twice for 39 yards in the drive, which may have moved him into the lead for the backup quarterback job.
