• On Vince Young, Packers had the idea that they would go with four quarterbacks anyway. "We would have gone with three but we had the idea that we probably wanted to go with four this year. We had another young man that actually hurt himself that was right on the eve of training camp. And we just kind of now got around to adding a fourth. It was something that we wanted to take a look at."
• Not a reflection of the quarterbacks who are here. "No. It's like Mike McCarthy and I were always talking about, we just kind of wanted to add a little more competition. At the same time it gives us an opportunity to look at a guy that's shown he's been able to win games in the NFL."
• Remember when he was coming out you said if you have a chance to draft Michael Jordan you do that? "I hope I didn't jinx him by doing that.... What kind of player do you think you're getting with his ups and downs? "That's the mystery of it, sort of the intrigue. Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith were telling me the night before he was scheduled to come in, they were flipping around the television and it was one of the stations that does replays. And they saw the national championship game and he was just a monster in that game. They saw it as a sign... from ... somewhere..."
• No problems or concerns with bringing him in given his history. How much check in to his background? "We did (consider his history). We gave him a little bit of a tryout and part of the tryout was conversations and coaches sitting down and talking with him, and myself. And others. He seems like a really good guy. I have no problems or concerns at all in that regard. But yeah we discussed that and talked about that, like with everyone we might bring in, especially a veteran.
• He struggled last year, how come back? "We don't know. This was an opportunity to take a look at he was anxious to give it a try. So the two thing kind of came together.
• What was convincing about him? "He was in pretty good shape. Just the way he carried himself, when he threw the ball, Mike and I said it was almost exactly like as it was at the University of Texas for his pro day, when we were able to both attend that day."
• "David Bakhtiari is very mature, articulate, appears to be well read. Take a good athlete and play him on a team that quite frankly took a lot of bumps and bruises over the last couple of years and he kind of hung in there. I thought that was impressive."
