QB rotation might only be Fitz & Young The quarterback rotation is pretty cut and dry with Ryan Fitzpatrick going the distance with the starters tonight against the Steelers, but there could be a change on the back end. Vince Young will take over after Fitzpatrick and run the second unit for the second straight preseason game. He could very well go the rest of the way with Tyler Thigpen not taking a snap at all in the game. This shouldn’t be seen as a bad sign for Thigpen. In the minds of the offensive coaches they need to see much more of Young in a game situation than Thigpen. “I know what Tyler can do,” said Chan Gailey. “We need to see more of what Vince can do.” Brad Smith won’t see any action at quarterback because he’ll be lining up at receiver and as a kick returner tonight against Pittsburgh. blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/08/25/qb-rotation-might-only-be-fitz-young/

So, this defense is good, we just need VY starting and the Bills can be contenders

i only saw game center on nfl.com in the thrid quarter. looked like he was doing really well.
what happened after that?
and that Kaiken or Aiken or whatever his name is needs to be gone. Every throw to him leads to trouble

I'll be very surprised if VY isn't the backup. He played bad today but so did Fitz.

watching the final 5-10 minutes of the game: - O-line of the 2nd stringers looks like they are not even on the field: no protection - lots of drops, but that is to be expected with 2nd and 3rd stringers - I missed VY's gaffes (INT). So, I don't know what to say about that - the Bills announcers are nuts if they believe Vince can make a few plays here and there, but Thigpen is the better guy to go for if you need a backup for an 8 game stretch (uh, I didn't see last year's games, but I believe they were getting blown out regularly...and tsill Thigpen was not asked to step in)
Can anyone give me an update?

This game had nothing to do with the 2nd team. VY threw two bad passes, looked at the same reciever the whole time.. a slow floating ball to the corner is just horrible. I defend him alot but Damn Vince. Even with the 2 pics he is better than Tyler but this sucks. I still blame people for changing his mechanics... from day one. Just let VY be VY...

I knew this game would be hard for VY with the 2nd team. I believe Chan knew it too. That why he did not have Tigpen play.

Here a post on why steelers 1st and 2nd team look better then Bills. jrb16915 I am not a Vince Young fan. But I really have no idea how you analyse his ability to be a back up, playing strictly with the second team. Unless the Bills plan to sub 11 players in the event that Fitzpatrick gets hurt, I am not not sure they are simulating a circumstance that would ever occur. I noticed MIke Tomlin (who seems to be a decent coach, based on his record) had Leftwhich play with the other starters. That makes more sense to me.

VY will make the team, don't worry about that. He had a bad game......it happens.

you know, on the one hand I want him to make the team (b/c how could he lose to Thigpen?!?!?), but on the other hand, this team looks worse than mediocre. So, I am kindaworried that he has to play on a bad team, which will not give him many opportunities to shine at all.
The other day I was thinking about seeing him play for the Cards or the Chiefs because he would be better than either team's QB. But the Chiefs are bottom of the barrel. Same for the Dolphins.
Sigh. And it would be good to see Vince play with the 1s, even if it were only for 1-2 series. Just to develop some kind of rhythm and show what he can do.
Not having a good feeling about this season yet...

Joan that the point when VY came in the 1st team of the steelers stay in played VY Chan should have had some of the starter stay in the game. That would taken some of the pressure off. Byron play with the starter.

Points after: Steelers 38, Bills 7By Tim Graham Some quick thoughts on the Buffalo Bills' 38-7 exhibition loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Ralph Wilson Stadium ... Bills star of the game: Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams was phenomenal even though he might not have the stats to show it. He routinely got penetration into the Steelers' backfield, bringing down running back Isaac Redman for a 3-yard loss and stuffing Jonathan Dwyer for no gain. Defensive end Mario Williams (two sacks) and Fred Jackson (seven carries for 34 yards and a touchdown) are honorable mentions. Play of the night: On a crossing pattern, Bills receiver David Nelson stretched to flag down a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass, kept his stride and sprinted up the left sideline, stretching for the goal line. Nelson was ruled down at the 1-yard line, setting up Jackson's touchdown run two plays later. Fitzpatrick struggles to find the mark: Fitzpatrick got jostled around all night and completed seven of his 18 throws for 89 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. But don't start thinking about a quarterback controversy. Vince Young completed just 12 of his 26 passes for 103 yards and had two interceptions. blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/
